Society Leadership

   Sarah Glover, DO

Louisiana Gastroenterology President 2025-2026

Dr. Glover is the Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology at Tulane University School of Medicine and focuses on advancing the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), allergic gastrointestinal disorders, and eosinophilic GI disorders through both clinical practice and bench research. Dr. Glover research work is aimed at uncovering immune mechanisms underlying gut inflammation to improve patient outcomes.  Dr. Glover completed a gastroenterology fellowship at University of Florida and a second gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Illinois-Chicago.

   Hrishikesh V. Samant, MD

2025 Course Co-Director, Immediate Past President (2024-2025)

Dr Samant completed his gastroenterology fellowship and then a transplant hepatology fellowship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.  He is an associate professor of gastroenterology and  director of hepatology at Ochsner Baton Rouge and LSU Health.  He is also Program Director for Transplant Hepatology fellowship at Ochsner. He has a special interest in rare liver disease and clinical informatics.

  Catherine Hudson, MD, MPH, D-ABOM

Louisiana Gastroenterology Society Vice President,  2025-2026

Dr. Catherine Hudson is a native of Louisiana from the small town of Abbeville. She is triple boarded in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and Obesity Medicine and is currently an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans in the Section of Gastroenterology where she specializes in Bariatrics, Foregut, and Obesity Medicine. She completed all of her training in New Orleans at LSU including medical school, residency, and fellowship. During her fellowship she started the first Obesity Medicine clinic at University Medical Center Hospital and serves as the Medical Director of Obesity Medicine at the Center for Weight Loss and Bariatric Surgery. She is also the Service Line Leader for the Inpatient Gastroenterology Service including the Endoscopy Unit at University Medical Center Hospital.

Dr. Hudson is a member of multiple professional societies including the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American Foregut Society, and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. She serves on national committees and has been selected for participation in various competitive early career leadership programs within these organizations. She is a founding board member of the Louisiana Obesity Society and is currently the president of the board. 

Dr. Hudson's endoscopic practice is focused on the advanced endoscopic management of surgical complications and includes suturing and advanced closures for leaks, fistulas, and iatrogenic perforations, stenting and dilations of strictures, endovacuum therapy, and double balloon enteroscopy to the excluded stomach.  


            Russell Zwiener,  M D

Treasurer 2025-2026

Dr. Russell Zwiener is a Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition specialist at Manning Family Children's. Dr. Zwiener also serves as the hospital's Director of Endoscopy and Director of Pediatric Advanced and Therapeutic Endoscopy. After earning his medical degree from St. Matthews University, Dr. Zwiener completed a one-year general surgery internship at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He then completed his general pediatrics residency at Oklahoma University Health Science Center and then a pediatric gastroenterology fellowship at LSU Health New Orleans right here at Children's Hospital. He trained further for an additional year in San Antonio to complete a pediatric advanced and therapeutic endoscopy fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Zwiener is board-certified in both General Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology. Although Dr. Zwiener treats all pediatric gastrointestinal conditions, he specializes in caring for children with pancreaticobiliary disorders including acute and chronic pancreatitis, gallbladder and bile duct disorders. Dr. Zwiener performs highly specialized procedures including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS). He is one of the very few pediatric trained physicians performing these procedures on children in the country. Dr. Zwiener is married to his wife Jaime, who is a New Orleans native, and is a father to three young daughters, one of which has special needs. Dr. Zwiener has a special place in his heart in caring for children with special needs.

  Stephen Landreneau, MD

Louisiana Gastroenterology Society President (2023-2024)

Dr. Landreneau completed his training at the University of South Alabama Hospitals in Mobile, Alabama. He sees patients at University Medical Center New Orleans.  He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.  Dr. Landreneau is a dedicated physician who is passionate about providing the best possible care to his patients.
